Trust Wallet now fully supports the recent Cardano network upgrade (CIP-1694, also known as the Plomin hard fork). This update introduces significant changes to the way ADA staking rewards are claimed and managed.
What Changed with Cardano?
As part of Cardano’s transition to on-chain governance, the CIP-1694 upgrade introduces a new requirement:
Users must now delegate their voting power to a DRep (Delegated Representative) in order to claim newly accrued staking rewards.
This change is implemented by the Cardano network and applies to all wallets that support ADA staking.
What Does This Mean for Trust Wallet Users?
With the latest Trust Wallet update:
You can now successfully claim staking rewards after selecting or being assigned a DRep.
You can undelegate your staked ADA even if you had previously unclaimed rewards.
No need to switch to third-party wallets — all core staking functionalities remain available directly within Trust Wallet.
If you previously encountered issues claiming or undelegating due to the network upgrade, these have now been resolved.
How Cardano’s Governance Works
Cardano now uses a formal governance structure with three key entities:
DReps (Delegated Representatives): ADA holders delegate to these representatives to participate in decision-making.
Constitutional Committee (CC): Oversees governance processes and enforces decisions.
Stake Pool Operators (SPOs): Maintain network security and governance participation.
What This Means for ADA Stakers
If you’ve staked ADA in Trust Wallet, here’s how the Plomin upgrade affects you:
Before the Hard Fork:
Rewards can be claimed as usual.
After the Hard Fork:
Rewards continue to accrue.
Rewards cannot be withdrawn unless you delegate voting power.
How to Delegate Your Voting Power & Claim Rewards in Trust Wallet
Follow these steps to delegate to a DRep and unlock your ADA staking rewards:
Go to the Cardano (ADA) Native Staking tab in "Earn"
Tap Governance Status on the top right
Select an option: 'Abstain', 'Delegate to a DRep', or 'No Confidence'
Input your preferred DRep ID (optional) - Find one from the full DRep Directory Confirm the transaction. You’ll now be able to claim rewards!
Need to Change Your Governance Status?
You can easily update your voting preference:
Tap the existing option in Governance Status
Choose a new one
Click Save Selection
Confirm the transaction on-chain
