In this guide we’ll show you how to buy NFTs using Trust Wallet. Non-fungible tokens, or NFTs for short, are unique digital assets that represent ownership of a specific item or piece of content. They can be art, music, or just about anything else that can be tokenized.

What are Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)

The term "non-fungible" means that each NFT is one-of-a-kind and cannot be directly replaced or exchanged for another NFT at a 1:1 value, unlike traditional cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum. Think of fungible items as regular currency, like dollars. If you have a dollar bill and exchange it for another dollar bill, you still have the same value - one dollar. These items are interchangeable and identical.

Now on the other side, imagine you own a collectible baseball card - it's unique and has a specific value based on its rarity, history, and demand. You cannot directly exchange this baseball card for another card and expect to receive equal value, as each card has its distinct attributes. This is similar to how NFTs work. NFTs are typically created and traded on blockchain platforms, such as Ethereum, that support the creation and management of these unique digital assets. The blockchain technology ensures that the NFTs are secure, transparent, and cannot be duplicated or tampered with.

Before you begin

Before you buy NFTs via Trust Wallet, it’s important to note that Trust Wallet does not directly provide the ability to buy or sell NFTs. Trust Wallet is a Web3 platform that provides the interface to connect to independent decentralized applications (dApps). These various dApps are the platforms where you will be buying NFTs from – not Trust Wallet.

Now that we have that cleared up, it’s important that you have a Trust Wallet set up with some crypto so you can pay any transaction fees associated with your NFT purchase.

Setting up a new wallet

• Open the Trust Wallet app, and choose “Create a new wallet.”

• Select an option to back up your wallet.

• Once your wallet is set up, tap on “Start using Trust Wallet.”

Tip: If you already have a wallet that’s not Trust Wallet, you can choose to import that wallet. In this case, you’d choose the “I already have a wallet” option.

Buying crypto for gas fees (transaction fees)

If you need crypto for gas fees, you can either deposit the crypto to your Trust Wallet, or buy crypto via Trust Wallet.

In this example, we’ll go through the process of buying an NFT on OpenSea, which is a popular NFT marketplace. The process will show you how to buy the NFT via Trust Wallet’s Web3 dApp browser – which allows you to access thousands of decentralized applications.

You can use Trust Wallet as a mobile app or the Trust Wallet Extension, however in this example we’ll use the mobile app.

Step 1: Connect your wallet to OpenSea via the Trust Wallet dApp Browser

• Open your Trust Wallet.

• Type in opensea.io into the address bar. Be sure you type carefully so you access the correct site.

• Choose the menu icon.

• Select “Connect wallet”.

Continue with authorizing the connection.

• Select “Show more”

• Choose “Trust”.

• Select the “Connect” button.

Step 2: Make your NFT purchase

From here, making your NFT purchase is simple.

• Use the search option to look for an NFT you like.

• Then on the NFT’s detail page, you can either choose “Buy now” or “Make offer”.

From there it’s just a matter of following the instructions to complete your transaction. Once complete, you can check your Trust Wallet’s NFT section for the NFT.

Simply select the NFTs tab to see your NFTs.

Again, because Trust Wallet is a Web3 platform that allows you to access various platforms via the dApp browser, you can choose from a number of NFT marketplaces to buy NFTs. Whether it’s OpenSea, Rarible, or a Solana based NFT platform like Solanart, the possibilities are endless.
