Three years ago, during one of the most challenging moments of his life, that same friend encouraged him to join Trust Wallet as a Backend Engineer. Under the mentorship of his manager, Shawn found not only technical direction but also genuine personal support.

As an individual contributor, Shawn focused on refactoring and designing backend systems — turning complex ideas and real business needs into scalable, reliable solutions. From leading large-scale service migrations to redesigning features under tight deadlines, he learned to thrive amid uncertainty.

He also recalls long nights spent shoulder-to-shoulder with teammates recovering from outages — moments that tested the team’s commitment and unity. In one unforgettable incident, a mistake he made caused a one-hour outage. Instead of blame, his manager responded with empathy, even sharing that he was about to become a father. It became a defining moment in Shawn’s understanding of leadership: one built on trust, humility, and care.
