What Are Pre-IPO Tokens?
Before a company lists on a public stock exchange, its shares are typically only accessible to institutional investors, venture capital funds, or accredited investors. That's been the default for decades.
Pre-IPO tokenization changes that. Platforms like Prestock create on-chain tokens that offer economic exposure to private-stage companies — making a market that was once closed off to most people accessible on-chain.
It's important to understand what these tokens are and aren't. Pre-IPO tokens are not equity ownership in the underlying company. They're tokenized instruments that allow you to take a position based on a company's potential public listing.
