A friendly reminder for everyone using a crypto wallet on iPhone, especially if it's been a while since your last iOS update.
Your wallet runs on your phone, so keeping your phone’s operating system secure is an important part of keeping your wallet secure. When security flaws are found in iOS, Apple fixes them through software updates. However, devices that haven't installed those updates stay exposed to the known flaws.
Updating only takes a few minutes, and it makes sure your device has Apple's latest security fixes.
For example, security researchers recently identified two exploit kits, Coruna and DarkSword, that target iPhones running older iOS versions. Apple has already fixed the flaws they use, so devices on the latest iOS version aren't affected by them.
Steps to protect your device
Update to the most recent iOS version available for your device.
If updating isn't possible right now, turn on Lockdown Mode for an added layer of security.
Stay away from unfamiliar or untrusted websites.
Don’t save your recovery phrase in photos, screenshots or notes
Coruna and DarkSword also look for recovery phrases saved on a device, including in photos and notes. A few simple habits help keep yours safe:
- Keep your recovery phrase and private keys out of screenshots and notes apps.
Never share your recovery phrase with anyone. Trust Wallet will never ask for it.
