Em resumo
Discover ERC-7779, a Trust Wallet-led, groundbreaking standard for interoperable smart wallets, streamlining Web3 experiences and fostering innovation.
We’re thrilled to announce that ERC-7779, a Trust Wallet-led standard for smart wallets, has officially gone live! View the direct link on the Ethereum.org website here: https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-7779
As the first standard specifically targeting EIP-7702, ERC-7779 establishes a unified framework for interoperable and developer-friendly wallets, paving the way for seamless user experiences and accelerating Web3 innovation.
This milestone further solidifies Trust Wallet’s commitment to driving ecosystem-wide collaboration and setting new benchmarks in crypto wallet technology. Below, we’ll explain a bit more about what exactly ERC-7779 is and how we believe ERC-7779 will transform the decentralized landscape.
What is ERC-7779?
ERC-7779 is a new standard designed to define how smart wallets should operate and interact in the evolving Web3 ecosystem. Building on EIP-7702—which introduced smart wallet capabilities to traditional externally owned accounts (EOAs)—ERC-7779 ensures that wallets across providers behave consistently, eliminating technical barriers that can frustrate users and developers alike.
This standard was developed with input from a broad range of ecosystem leaders, including engineering teams from Safe, Alchemy, and the Ethereum Foundation, alongside feedback from OpenZeppelin, WalletConnect, ChainSafe, and others. This collaboration has resulted in a framework that is both robust and reflective of the needs of the broader Web3 community.
How ERC-7779 Changes the Game
The decentralized world is often fragmented, with different wallets, dApps, and platforms speaking different “languages.” ERC-7779 creates a common ground that aligns wallet behaviours, enabling:
Interoperability Across Providers: Wallets implementing this standard work seamlessly together, making switching between providers straightforward and hassle-free.
Streamlined User and Developer Experiences: Users get predictable, consistent functionality across wallets, while developers can focus on building features without worrying about compatibility.
ERC-7779 creates a standardized foundation for developers to enable users to continue to migrate frictionlessly between different wallets they prefer - fostering innovation and reducing friction for everyone involved.
Our Commitment to a Future-Ready Framework
ERC-7779 represents Trust Wallet’s vision for a more cohesive, innovative Web3 ecosystem. In fact, at the Devcon conference, we discussed how ERC-7779 will make an impact in 2025 and beyond.
By ensuring compatibility with EIP-7702 and creating space for advanced use cases like gas abstraction, programmable compliance, and cross-chain operations, the standard supports both current and emerging technologies. This adaptability positions wallets across the ecosystem to meet the demands of tomorrow’s decentralized applications, making Web3 more accessible to everyday users and better equipped to handle the rapid pace of innovation.
As one of the driving forces behind this initiative, Trust Wallet is proud to lead the way in defining what’s possible in decentralized finance and beyond. With ERC-7779, we’re not just creating a better wallet standard—we’re contributing to a more unified and accessible Web3 landscape.
